DJ MFR, San Francisco’s renowned soulful house DJ, is heading out on the road to promote the May release of his latest album Rome Departure (The Remixes). DJ MFR is accepting dates in cities throughout the world to deliver his own special blend of San Francisco house music as epitomized by his accomplished label Transport Recordings.
DJ MFR (Marco From Rome) starting DJ’ing in his home city of Rome, Italy. A love for soulful, deep house sounds brought MFR to San Francisco in the mid-90’s where he soon founded his own label, Transport Recordings, with partners Miguel Migs and Bruno Ybarra (later of Naked Music). Now a well-established indie dance label with excellent underground house music, Transport has garnered a large and loyal following with a roster that has show- cased such heavyweights as DJ Rasoul, Vincent Kwok, Arnold Jarvis, and Migs and MFR themselves. Transport Recordings is also the home of the popular musical act New Mondo, a collaboration of MFR and Vincent Kwok which released the celebrated album Total Control in 2009. DJ MFR has also compiled many commercially available mixed CDs including Afterdark: San Francisco for Kinkysweet, Downtown: San Francisco for Swank Recordings, and the four part West Coast Excursions series released by Transport. Meanwhile, as a DJ, MFR can be seen and heard spinning at some of the biggest clubs in San Francisco and around the globe. In 2005, San Francisco’s Transport Recordings released renowned soulful house music DJ MFR’s artist album Rome Departure to much acclaim. It received massive support from critics, DJs, and music fans, even earning notice as iDJ Magazine’s “Album Of The Year.” Now, half a decade later, Transport revisits the classic songs on this album with remixes of songs from this exceptional album. The remixing cadre spans the globe with versions by England’s legendary Charles Webster, San Francisco’s Vincent Kwok, Italy’s Haldo, New York City’s Jay-J, and a couple versions by DJ MFR himself. All of the tracks feature sweet, accomplished vocals from the likes of Tonee Green (AKA Capitol A), SF jazz diva Indra Jones, D’layna, and Windstrong. It’s a satisfying listen, having the feel of a cohesive artist album unlike many other house music remix collections. To promote the Rome Departure (The Remixes) album and other releases from Transport Recordings DJ MFR plans to multiple DJ dates and tours throughout the world for the next several months. Any inquires are welcome. |
